Freeze frames from Saturn
21.01.04: SCIENTISTS are 'ecstatic' at the pictures returned from the surface of Titan, Saturn's giant moon, by the Huygens space probe after a seven-year journey.
They show the shores of a liquid-methane ocean beneath a bright orange photochemical smog. The ocean is a witch's brew of life-creating molecules but at a mind-numbing low of 178C. 'It's like ancient Earth preserved in a deep freeze,' said a project spokesman. MC
