February 14, 2002 - What a week!

I'm exhausted from the effort of dropping extra-large hints in mum's direction about my birthday present. Sometimes I think that although her body is with us, (well, when she's not tied to her computer, working) her brain appears to be on another planet altogether. As this is not (quite) scientifically possible yet, I think she must just be tired.

Tacitus, the three-month-old boy-genius, lets out an impressive genetically enhanced noise. Anyway, to cut a very long story short, mum came up trumps and today (did anyone out there remember it's my birthday?) I got the best pressie in the world, the ultimate object of desire, a girl's best friend - a CD-Com.

Now for those of you still living in the last century, I'll explain. This funky bit of stuff plays extra-micro CDs; think of your 50p piece and you've got the size of it. It even has a built-in speech sensor and transmitter so I can phone all my friends on the way to school. Best of all, it's cheap rate for school kids before 9am so mum won't throw a wobbly.

I can't wait to show Alice, Saffron, George and Harry! They're my best friends at Wallbank Grammar; but I haven't got space to tell you about them. You'll have to look next week and we'll pose for a group picture for you. Phoebe

See ya
